On Friday, as US President Joe Biden traveled through the area as part of his Middle East tour, the country pledged financial support to ensure improved access to healthcare in the Palestinian Territories.
Biden made a financial aid pledge of $100 million to a group of hospitals in the area while visiting the Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem.
The U.S. legislature had to provide its consent before the funds, which would be split across six facilities, could be distributed.
During his visit to the West Bank on Friday, Biden expected to announce a total of 316 million dollars in aid, a U.S. official said.
Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of Palestine, was another person he was supposed to see.
As president, Biden is making his first trip to the Middle East.
Later on Friday, he is due to take off for Saudi Arabia.
