A former policeman killed 38 people In a mass shooting at a children’s daycare center in Thailand on Thursday. According to the media, the shooter afterwards shot and killed himself.
Police stated in a statement that there were 22 children among the victims in addition to adults.
According to police colonel Jakkapat Vijitraithaya from the province of Nong Bua Lam Phu, the gunman, Panya Khamrab, killed his wife and child following the shooting spree.
After a former police officer went on a killing spree at a daycare, killing over 30 people—most of them children—the prime minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha ordered an urgent investigation on Thursday.
“Concerning this horrifying incident… I would like to express my deepest sorrow and condolences to the families of the dead and injured,” Prayut wrote on his official Facebook page, adding that he had told the national police chief to “fast-track an investigation.”
