Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Nottingham Forest, which was recently promoted to the English Premier League.
Nottingham Forest announced on Saturday that Awoniyi has signed a five-year contract with the team.
“Nottingham Forest are delighted to confirm the signing of Nigerian international forward Taiwo Awoniyi for a club record fee,” the club said.
“I’m very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest,” Awoniyi was quoted to have said in the statement.
The 24-year-old Awoniyi joins Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin of the Bundesliga, where he scored 20 goals in 43 games in all competitions the previous year.
His significant contribution enabled Union Berlin to take fifth place and, for the first time since 2001/2002, qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
At Liverpool, Awoniyi started his professional career in 2015. Before joining Union Berlin, he was on loan with FSV Frankfurt, NEC, Mouscron, Gent, and Mainz 05.
