Takeoff, a former member of the Trapster group Migos, was shot early on Tuesday in Houston, Texas.
According to several accounts, Takeoff, 28, was shot around 2:30 a.m. while playing dice with his uncle and former Migos leader, Quavo, at a bowling facility in Houston called 810 Billiards & Bowling.
In a viral video, Takeoff, whose actual name is Kirshnik Khari, was seen lying lifeless on the ground surrounded by Quavo and another bystander as medical attention was being given.
Gunshots were reportedly fired during the argument, and Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering severe wounds, according to TMZ.
The American rapper shared a selfie from the bowling alley where he was later shot and killed before to the shooting.
Takeoff’s passing makes him the most recent American celebrity to die in a shooting in public, surpassing PnB Rock, a rapper who was brutally murdered in September 2022 during a heist at a waffle shop.
