Baba Usman, the inspector general of police, has denounced the alleged assault on Inspector Teju Moses by her boss Prof. Zainab Duke, her housekeeper Rebecca Enechido, and an unidentified male suspect who is still at large.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s spokesperson, said this on Thursday.
He asserted that Duke, an activist, severely beat her orderly on Tuesday, September 29, 2022, at her home in Garki, Abuja, in the company of other accomplices because the orderly refused to violate professional ethics by performing menial and domestic tasks at her home.
“The IG has directed the express prosecution of the arrested suspects who are currently in police custody, as preliminary investigation shows overwhelming evidence of culpability on the part of the professor and her domestic staff.
“The IG has equally tasked the investigative team to ensure that the fleeing suspect is arrested and made to face the wrath of the law,” Adejobi added.
However, he pointed out that contrary to what was being spread on social media, the suspect, Duke, who mentioned the IG, his family, and other officers in the Force’s high hierarchy, had no acquaintance with the police.
“The IG, who similarly ordered the withdrawal of all police personnel attached to the professor, expressed consternation at the fact that an individual who claims to be an advocate for human rights could stoop so low to violate the rights of another individual, a police officer tasked with ensuring her protection,” he added.
