Eight domestic employees were hauled in for interrogation in relation to the passing of Davido’s kid, Ifeanyi Adeleke, the Lagos State Police Command, reported on Tuesday.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, who confirmed the news to our correspondent, said the domestic workers’ accounts will help the command determine what exactly happened to cause the three-year-old boy’s death.
Hundeyin added that anyone deemed negligently accountable will be kept back to aid the command in the ongoing investigation. He added that everyone not found guilty would be freed right away.
Hundeyin said, “His (Ifeanyi’s) death is confirmed. His (Davido’s) domestic workers have been brought in for questioning and anybody found not culpable will be allowed to go immediately.
“About eight of them were brought in to narrate their version of what happened to assist us in getting what really happened.
“At the end of their narrations, whoever that is found not guilty of negligence or not culpable in any way will be allowed to go.
“Anybody found culpable will stay back to assist us in further investigation. The domestic workers are about eight that were brought in.”
According to reports, Ifeanyi perished in the swimming pool at his father’s home in the Banana Island neighborhood of Lagos State.
After being taken from the pool, the three-year-old boy was reportedly transferred to a hospital in the Lekki district of the state, where one of the attending physicians verified his death.
At the time this article was written, the victim’s family still hadn’t responded to the unfortunate turn of events.
However, Nigerians—especially fans of entertainment—have been incensed and traumatized by the development ever since the news of Ifeanyi’s alleged death became public knowledge.
A number of famous people have sent cryptic remarks that seem to corroborate Ifeanyi’s passing. Among them are the comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, as well as Daddy Freeze, a radio host.
Makun, in an Instagram post early Tuesday, wrote, “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic. This hit me so bad.”
Daddy Freeze, who went live on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning, said, “When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything, but bear with me. I will not be live tonight.”
Lasisi Elenu also posted, “Father, heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”
Reality TV star and actress Rosemary Afuwape, said on her Instagram story, “My heart can’t take this. This is so painfully unbearable. Chioma and Davido, please accept my condolences. No amount of words can comfort your hearts. I am truly sorry for your loss.”
Ifeanyi’s alleged death was the most popular subject on Twitter as of 1.28 am.
However, the death rumor was first mentioned in a now-deleted late-Monday post by the actress Eniola Badmus.
In response to Badmus’s article, Nigerians criticized her for disclosing such private information to the public.
