Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has promised never to accept northern supremacy in the leadership of the party despite the turmoil tearing through the Peoples Democratic Party.
Wike disapproved of the party’s present leadership structure, which includes Iyorchia Ayu as national chairman, Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate, and Aminu Tambuwal as director general of the presidential campaign.
He claimed that no one could persuade him to give up advocating for party internal democracy.
In addition to hosting PDP candidates and local government party chairmen from Cross River State at his home in Port Harcourt, where he gave 25 buses to boost their campaigns, Wike made this statement on Wednesday night.
In Cross River State, a group of PDP candidates for both the state and federal elections paid Wike a courtesy call.
They were grateful to Wike for standing by them after their governor, Ben Ayade, switched from the PDP to the APC.
Wike vowed to back the Cross River PDP while advising the candidates to take their time in trying to win the poll.
