Oil field workers: Benin Rivers explosion kill seven.

Seven Oil field workers of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has been confirmed dead in Benin Rivers explosion.

The oil field workers died due to an explosion that occurred at Gbetiokun, OML 40, which is operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), on behalf of the NPDC/Elecrest Joint Venture.

According to a statement from the corporation, which said the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 8 during the installation of a ladder on a platform at (Benin River Valve Station) for access during discharging of Gbetiokun production.

There is ongoing investigation to detail out the cause of the explosion, the corporation added. According to Weld Affairs and Flow Impact (NPDC consultants) ”The bodies of casualties have been deposited in a morgue in Sapele, while families of the personnel involved are being contacted by their employers.
