Oba Lurge Signs Universal Deal, Set To Drop New EP

Nigerian rapper Oba Lurge, who found success in 2019 with the release of his tune Uncle London, has agreed to a distribution agreement with Universal Music Nigeria.

His critically acclaimed EP Son Of George, set for release in August 2022, is presently being polished by him.

Ep promises cameos from a variety of top creatives on the continent, including Crossroadz, Holyfield, Mk, Billiebeats, and famous Afrobeats singer Iyanya.

His next song, The Return Of Ojua Ojupang, is a eulogy for his maternal great-grandfather Father Ojua, a musician from the 1960s who was known by the stage name Ojua Ojupang (Killer Of A Lion) after killing a lion on his farm. Father Ojua was from the village of Bashu in the Cross River State local government area.

“I feel a lot like my great grandfather and learning about him helped me understand myself better I see a lot of his traits in me, it feels like I’m a reincarnation of him and it feels good to be reborn,” the rapper says.

“I always wondered where the love and drive for music sprang from after making music for over 10 years without making any money off it.”

The rapper has already released three EPs, and he is currently preparing to release his fourth, Son Of George, which is reported to be the first hip-hop project to come from his contract with Universal Music Nigeria. He brags about having more than 1000 tracks in his discography.
