President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has been reelected into office as President following his victory in the recently held elections.
Museveni, who has been in office since 1986 will run for his sixth term after being declared winner on Saturday by the Uganda election commission.
Poll results released states that Museveni secured 5.85 million votes while his main opposition – Bobi Wine, finished with 3.48 million.
However, Bobi Wine, originally known as Robert Kyagulanyi, failed to accept the result, insisting the election was marred by voting fraud. He also expressed readiness to publish evidence in due time.
Leading up to Friday’s elections, President Museveni had stated that his long stint had made him well suited to handle the country’s affairs in the coming future.
