An enormous planned exhibition organized by the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris has been announced. People of the UAE are asked to prepare for the arrival of Impressionism: Pathways to Modernity this fall.
150 significant impressionist works will be on display during the Louvre Abu Dhabi Impressionism exhibition. One of the biggest and most important Impressionist exhibitions to ever take place outside of France will be this one. Ready to explore a variety of artistic creations?
On Wednesday, October 12, Impressionism: Pathways to Modernity will arrive at the Louvre Abu Dhabi and remain there through Sunday, February 5.
Manet, Degas, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, and Cézanne will each have a groundbreaking piece on display in the Louvre Abu Dhabi impressionism show. Etchings, costumes, movies, and photography will be shown in conjunction with the masterpieces.
In addition to a modern video piece, the exhibition includes more than 100 paintings, 40 drawings and prints, 20 photographs, five outfits from the time period, and more. The impressionist collections from the Musée d’Orsay are mostly used in this exhibition.
The Impressionism exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi examines the reasons why the movement was so revolutionary in its day and how it set the way for later movements in the arts. It makes the case that Impressionism was about new ways of seeing, creating art, and even living rather than just being an artistic rebellion.
The Cup of Chocolate Cup by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, an important acquisition for the Louvre Abu Dhabi, will also be displayed in the exhibition for the first time.
The Balcony by Edouard Manet, The Magpie by Claude Monet, The Floor Scrapers, 1875 by Gustave Caillebotte, and The Racecourse are some of the highlights from the Musée d’Orsay Collection. Paul Cézanne’s Woman with a Coffee Pot and Edgar Degas’ Amateur Jockeys Near a Car.
There are more things coming to Saadiyat Island besides the new Louvre Abu Dhabi exhibition. In 2024, teamLab Phenomena, a brand-new artistic endeavor, will arrive in Abu Dhabi. The “house of limitless wonder” will showcase unique and dynamic technology and art produced by teamLab.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, which will house modern and contemporary art on the island, will also soon be open for visitors. In a few years, you will also be able to visit the Natural History Museum on Saadiyat Island.
