Anthony Davis was the saviour with a game-winning 3-pointer as the Los Angeles Lakers held on to deny Denver Nuggets what would have been an amazing comeback, with a 105-103 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Sunday.
The win gives Lakers a 2-0 series lead.
The final few possession of the game were intriguing, with Lakers Davis and Nuggets Nikola Jokic exchanging baskets before the last Lakers possession, which included an Alex Caruso missed 3-pointer, a Jamal Murray block, and lastly Davis’ winning shot.
Lakers started the game on the front foot, with a very determined LeBron James scoring 20 points in the first half. But Nuggets got better in the second half, erasing a 10-point half time deficit to create a thrilling finish.
Jokic (30 points, nine assists, six rebounds) and Murray (25 points, six rebounds, four assists) once again put up a solid performance for the Nuggets, and they received strong bench contributions from Michael Porter Jr., Monte Morris.
Davis led the Lakers with 31 points, while James contributed 26 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Denver produced a better performance than it did in the series opener, but must now win game 3 on Tuesday.
