According to the Lagos government, traffic will be redirected from the Maryland-Mende underpass beginning on Tuesday in order to advance work on the Opebi-Ojota link bridge.
In a statement on Sunday, the transportation commissioner, Frederic Oladeinde, revealed this.
Mr. Oladeinde assured that alternate routes had been planned to facilitate movement while the underpass was being rebuilt. He recommended drivers to connect to Maryland and its surroundings using the Ojota junction.
Additionally, the commissioner asked drivers who wanted to enter the axis’ inner streets to use Mobolaji Bank Anthony to get to Emmanuel, Aderibigbe Shitta, and Adeoye Adeyemi streets.
He advised other drivers traveling in the direction of Mende and its surroundings to utilize Mende Street to connect Ajose Street and Oki Lane in order to continue their journey.
The public will be informed of the new date, Mr. Oladeinde added, adding that the repairs to a stretch of the Lagos-bound lane on the Iyana Era/Badagry Expressway, which were originally slated for Saturday, have been postponed.
He thanked drivers for their understanding and cooperation while reassuring them that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would send staff to the troubled roads in order to minimize disruptions.
