IG Usman Baba Bans Use Of SPY Plate Number

Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has outlawed the usage of SPY license plates all around the country.

He claimed that this was done to stop people from continuously disobeying traffic laws.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

All road users in the nation, without exception, were subject to the ban, according to the IGP.

He also claims that people driving about with the benefits of SPY police license plates continuously disobey the rules of the road.

Mr. Baba warned police personnel and representatives from other security organizations who are assigned to VIPs with SPY license plates to ensure timely compliance or face being detained for the offense.

He gave the directive full effect by ordering the Commissioners of Police in all the states and the FCT, as well as their administrative Assistant Inspectors General of Police.

Mr. Baba instructed the AIGs and CPs to guarantee that all SPY license plates now in use are seized without the owners of such vehicles being detained.

He claimed that when such vehicles had police officers or other security agency employees performing escort responsibilities, an arrest might be made.

In carrying out the task, the IGP advised police officers to protect residents’ rights and privileges in accordance with local laws and best practices from throughout the world.

In order to boost the nation’s internal security, he urged the public and other security agencies to assist the police in enforcing the prohibition.
