Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has lauded the verdict made by the Federal High Court in Abuja; concerning an alleged forgery of certificate.
The case – which was dismissed by the Federal High Court on Saturday, was brought against Governor Obaseki by the All Progressives Congress, and Edobor Williams – a member of the party.
According to Justice Ahmed Mohammed; who pronounced the verdict, the plaintiffs had failed to prove that the Edo State Governor had forged his academic qualifications; which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), before the recent state’s governorship election, which held on the 19th of September, 2019.
Governor Godwin Obaseki– who was delighted by the court’s ruling– had stated that the truth prevailed after a failed attempt by ‘desperate individuals’.
“The verdict of the Federal High Court, delivered by Honourable Justice Ahmed Mohammed is well-received and a victory for the rule of law. It was a most needless attempt by desperate individuals trying to undo the will of the people through the backdoor but we are happy today that justice and truth have prevailed.” He explained
He also commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Edo State people for their support during the court proceedings.
