Bianca Andreescu has pulled out of the French Open to focus on her recovery from a knee injury before an ethic 2021. Her absence from the clay court tournament means she will be missing her third Grand Slam of the year.
The 20-year-old who won the 2019 US Open got injured at the WTA Finals in October and has not competed since then.
The world number seven has now revealed she will miss the rest of the season.
“As hard as it was to come to this conclusion, I have so much to look forward to in 2021, including the Olympics,” said the Canadian.
“I want to use this time to focus on my game so I can come back stronger and better than ever.”
Andreescu has so far missed the Australian Open in January and, after Wimbledon was postponed, she also withdrew from this month’s US Open.
The qualifiers for the French Open is going on at Roland Garros in Paris and, the men’s and women’s main draw is set to begin on 27 September.
