Premiership side, Sheffield United, has ended a long winless run in the competition; following a 1-0 victory against 10-man Newcastle on Tuesday.
The club currently 20th on the league table took the lead in the second half; through Billy Sharp’s well converted penalty to end a 20-match winless streak in the league.
The Blades – who grew in confidence after Newcastle’s winger, Ryan Fraser first half send-off – also dominated the match to secure a much needed win.
The victory sees Chris Wilder’s men remain bottom of the league and nine points adrift of safety.
However, yesterday’s win ensured the club moved up to 5 points and three points behind 19th placed West Bromich Albion – yet to play their outstanding matches.
