EKEDC Launches New Payment Platform-recharge

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has improved its collection efficiency by launching ‘IRecharge,’ a payment platform designed to make it easier for customers to pay their electricity bills.

Dr. Tinuade Sanda, Managing Director of EKEDC, announced on Thursday at the company’s headquarters in Lagos.

Sanda stated that the payment solution was developed in partnership with IRecharge Tech-Innovations.

“As stated in our mission statement, we seek to improve the quality of life for all of our customers by utilizing cutting-edge technology and innovative processes to supply electricity sustainably, reliably, and safely,” Sanda said.

“As a result, what is happening here today demonstrates that notion.” I’m very excited about IRecharge’s payment solution.

“It will also ensure that both our postpaid and prepaid customers have an easy time paying their electricity bills and purchasing their prepaid meter tokens.”

“The new service allows customers to pay their utility bills regularly by using a unique NUBAN account number.”

“While Eko Disco is working hard to ensure that customers have an  adequate power supply, we must also secure our revenue by making it easy for customers to pay their electricity bills.”

She assured the customers that the platform was not only quick and easy to use, but also secure for them to conduct their transactions.

Sanda stated once more that the company would look for new ways to deliver values and improve service delivery to Tootoo to maintain its leadership position in the Nigerian power industry.

M.r Tomi Araromi, Managing Director of IRecharge Tech-Innovations, stated that the purpose of the launch was to educate EKEDC customers about the new payment platform.

According to Araromi, electricity bills could be paid with a single bank transfer to these account numbers.

He went on to say that the goal was to provide customers with a safe and dependable bill payment experience.

“The new payment solution provides and pairs a unique NUBAN number to each prepaid meter number and postpaid account number,” he explained.

“Payment to this NUBAN number generates and sends a token/receipt to the payee without any convenience fees via SMS, Email, and WhatsApp.”

“Through this solution, customers will have access to convenience, accessibility, transaction security, shorter turnaround time, 24/7 customer support, instant value receipt, and a variety of other benefits.”

According to Araromi, permanent account numbers can be obtained by visiting the IRecharge website, downloading the IRecharge App, dialing the *6606*1# USSD Code, or via WhatsApp at 09096666612.

He stated that payments to these account numbers could be made through a variety of channels, including internet banking, ATM transfers, USSD transfers, bank deposits, and visits to any mobile money agent location (POS).

Mr. Innocent Ike, Managing Director of Polaris Bank, and Mr. Usifo Ogbebor, Group Head, Power Sector, Zenith Bank, both praised EKEDC and IRecharge for their efforts.

They maintained that bill collection was an important part of the power industry value chain and that the innovative platform would make it easier for customers to make payments.
