Concerning the FG policy on Digital Economy, 9mobile pledges their support. Toward the country’s economic transformation through the Digital Economy policy strategy of the Federal government the Nigeria’s leading telecoms provider, 9mobile has promised it support. Alan sinfield, the chief executive officer of the company who was accompanied by the members of the management team, in a courtesy with the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim pledge is allegiance at his is office in Abuja. In his comments the Minister Hailed the appointment of Sinfield a experienced telecoms expert with global operational expertise as CEO of 9mobile, said is expertise is what Nigeria needed in it telecom sector.
Pantami said “I read about your appointment on June 1, the same day it was announced, and I was excited because we need people with creative, analytical thinking and innovative ideas that will come and support us in driving the sector forward,”.
He also said that the government will continue to facilitate the enabling environment for the industry and its growth plan to thrive. The Minister further stated that “I’m excited about your innovative ideas. Your plan is highly impressive, and I’m glad that you are ambitious. He also said “as a government, we will provide a more enabling environment for the industry and especially indigenous companies like you to thrive. We have many policies that are promoting indigenous investments and innovation that will positively impact the economy,”.
Pantami, who also highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to improve broadband penetration and digital roll-out, said the government would continue to intervene to address issues confronting Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and other players in the sector. Escorting Sinfield on the visit were members of the management team, including the Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, Executive Director, Abdulrahman Ado, Company Secretary and Director, Legal, Ore Olajide others.
The Executive Vice Chairman Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Danbatta, was also paid a visit at NCC’s Zonal Office, ikoyi, Lagos by the telco Chief. Winfield also showed is appreciation to the NCC for been supportive to 9mobile during it transition period and its visionary regulatory oversight of the sector. 9mobile was also commented for their excellence quality of service by Danbatta, and encourage them to sustain its growth momentum, assuring of the NCC’s continued support.
