Graham Potter, the head coach of Brighton, will be discussed by Chelsea as a prospective replacement for ousted manager Thomas Tuchel following his dismissal on Wednesday morning.
Chelsea has been given permission by Brighton to meet with Potter, according to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, and they are currently drafting a contract proposal for the 47-year-old Englishman.
“Chelsea are preparing the contract proposal for Graham Potter, but the main priority will be discussing a long-term project. He’s the favourite — while Pochettino is now waiting for Chelsea to decide.
“Brighton will discuss with Chelsea on compensation/clause right after,” Fabrizio said on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
Before moving to Swansea City in 2018, Potter began his managerial career with Swedish club stersunds FK, where he won the Svenska Cupen, Division 1 Norra, and Division 2 Norrland.
He was hired by Brighton in 2019 and has since led “The Seagulls” to their highest points (41) and goals (39) in the Premier League to finish 15th in the 2017–18 season. In the following season, Potter surpassed him by leading Brighton to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League, breaking his previous mark.
In that season, Brighton scored 42 goals and gained 52 points.
