Three Nigerian songs were included in the summer playlist released by former US President Barack Obama.
Obama announced he was now listening to Tems’ “Vibe Out,” Burna Boy’s “Last Last,” and Pheelz ft. BNXN’s “Finesse” tracks on his official Twitter on July 26. These three Nigerian artists were the only ones to make this year’s cut.
“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies – it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together.

“Here’s what I’ve been listening to this summer. What songs would you add?” Obama wrote.
The sole Nigerian song to make the ex-Spotify president’s playlist was Rema’s “Iron Man,” which was shared in 2019.
Nigerian music has consistently made the playlist, except for 2021. Wizkid’s “Smile” featuring H.E.R. made the list in 2020.
