Five persons have reportedly been slain by bandits in the Barkeji village of Zamfara State’s Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
Food goods and domestic animals have also been hauled away.
Abdullahi Mohammed, a local, claimed that the victims were killed when the bandits stormed the community on Sunday night.
Mohammed claimed that the robbers rode motorcycles into the community on Sunday night, where they opened fire, killing five people and injuring one.
He said, “They arrived in our village in the night on Sunday and began to shoot sporadically killing five persons on the spot.
“They have also injured one other person who is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment.
“Many people, including myself, were able to escape into the bush.”
He went on to say that a lot of domestic animals and food had also been stolen by the criminals.
“They broke into our houses and shops where they took away a large number of animals and food items,” said Mohammed.
