Alake of Egbaland Endorses Osinbajo For Presidency

Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland, on Tuesday endorsed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the presidency in 2023.

The monarch claimed Osinbajo had paid his dues and deserved to be elected President of Nigeria next year When Vice President Yemi Osinbajo paid him a courtesy call in Abeokuta,

Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, accompanied him on the trip.

Osinbajo had acquitted himself admirably in service to the nation, according to the traditional ruler, and was perfectly qualified to be the countryโ€™s next president.

Gbadebo said: โ€œEvery President from this part of the country that has passed through here has succeeded in becoming the President.

โ€œEvery time the Vice President has passed here and gone for something competitive, he has always won; this will not be an exception.

โ€œBy the grace of God, our Vice President has paid his dues; he has gone through serving others and has been winning colours all the way.

โ€œHe had the same subjects in high school like I had and won laurels.

โ€œIn the university, through his research work, and in the legal practice, he has been most outstanding.

โ€œWhy should we not ask you for just one more positionย toย the glory of God, and for the benefit of all Nigerians and you will say `noโ€™? Certainly, not here.โ€

He prayed that Osinbajoโ€™s next visit to the palace would be a โ€œthank youโ€™โ€™ visit after his victory at the poll.

Earlier, the Vice President said he was in the palace to brief the monarch on the progress that he had made so far in his presidential pursuit.

โ€œOf course, Kabiyesi knows that on April 11, I formally declared myย intentionย to run for the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

โ€œAnd after I did, I have consulted with our governors; consulted with our legislators and I have beenย inย one or two states.

โ€œToday is very special; today, I am formally reporting progress to our Kabiyesi, the Alake of Egba Land, my own dear father, whom I know, has been behind several of the other journeys in this political terrain.

โ€œI want to say that our state has never been short of notable personalities in leadership,โ€™โ€™ he said.
