Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi said on Thursday that she has started lupus therapy after suffering from the condition for a year.
Early in 2022, the actress had revealed that she was coping with the autoimmune condition.
On Thursday, the actress posted photos of herself in the hospital and mentioned that she was receiving care at The John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, United States.
She wrote, “I commenced my lupus treatment journey today 06/30/2022 with @hopkinsmedicine Alihamdulilah.
“Some beautiful souls made this happen. God bless you all. Wish me luck. #warrior.”

Afolabi’s treatment was supported via a fundraiser that some celebrities started in May.
In her thank-you message, she listed the fundraiser’s sponsors, including Mercy Aigbe, Funke Akindele-Bello, Toyin Abraham, Yomi Fabiyi, Akin Olaiya, Adeoti Kazim, Shola Kosoko, and Wumi Toriola.
The treatment, which would take place overseas, is expected to start in June 2022, she had then said.
After Afolabi revealed her illness, the actress reportedly sought solace in a well-known church.
In response, Afolabi stated that she was a devout Muslim and had a close relationship with Allah, asking her followers to disprove the charges.
She noted that since the news of her illness became public, she had “gotten reports of different misinformation and false narratives out there.”
When asked about the alleged visit, Afolabi responded that she had never gone to a church for healing.
