Iboro Otu, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate for governor of Akwa Ibom State, has chosen Nigerian actress Caroline Hutchings as his running mate.
Hutchings was chosen as the party’s running mate due to her “exemplary life, love for humanity, leadership ability, and commitment towards the betterment of Akwa Ibom communities,” according to a statement released on Monday.
The reality television personality announced on her Instagram page that the time has come to help the people of Akwa Ibom and all of Nigeria.
“To serve and to honor in loyalty and in truth to Akwa Ibom and Nigeria . So help me God,” she wrote.
Hutchings is the fourth Nollywood celebrity to be announced as a running partner for the governorship elections in 2023.
Her nomination comes a few days after Tofunmi Ogunronbi, the National Rescue Movement’s (NRM) candidate for governor of Ogun state, picked Femi Branch as her running mate.
The actress Funke Akindele has received official confirmation that she will run for deputy governor on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.
Tonto Dikeh also received the endorsement of Tonte Ibraye, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor of Rivers state, last month.
