Veteran actor Gbenga Richards has passed away, leaving the Nollywood industry in sadness once more.
After a protracted struggle with an undiagnosed illness, the actor allegedly died in the early hours of Thursday, May 12.
In 2021, several of his coworkers used social media to get cash from well-meaning Nigerians to pay for his medical treatment.
Unfortunately, the once-vibrant actor has succumbed to the illness. He was a force in the cinema industry in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Today, May 12, media personality and TV director Femi Adewale shared the tragic news of the actor’s death on his Facebook page.
“Good night Gbenga Richards.
Another Nollywood icon is gone.
A gem is lost.
My brother and friend is gone to be with his creator.
May the Lord rest ur soul in Jesus name,” he wrote while sharing a photo of the actor.
