2021/2022 Player And Manager Of The Season Shortlist

The 2021/22 EA Sports Premier League Player of the Season And Manager of the season Shortlist has been released, with Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Son Heung-min headlining the nomination.

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and City’s Joao Canceling are also part of the shortlist. It is not just the traditional ‘big’ six that are on the list, with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse completing the nominees.

A notable absentee on the list is last year’s winner Ruben Dias, however De Bruyne and Salah could pick up their second awards having won in 2019/20 and 2017/18 respectively.

Salah has already won one personal award this campaign, securing the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year earlier this month.

The winner of the Premier League Player of the Season will be decided by combining a fan poll with votes of the 20 club captains and a panel of ‘football experts’.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe are among those nominated for the 2021/22 Premier League Manager of the Season.

Completing the five-person shortlist are Thomas Frank and Patrick Vieira, who have exceeded expectations at Brentford and Crystal Palace respectively in this campaign.

Klopp claimed the award in 2019/20 and he has guided Liverpool back into contention this term following a disastrous 2020/21 campaign.

The shortlist is as follows:

Thomas Frank (Brentford)

Pep Guardiola (Man City)

Eddie Howe (Newcastle United)

Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)

Patrick Vieira (Crystal Palace)
